Poor experience, no elite guests recognition

I agree with other reviews that it is very sub par to other JW hotels. Poor lounge and breakfast, indifferent customer service. What is worst, management denies responsibility. I was not properly offered welcome gift as a Titanium Elite, requested compensation under the Bonvoy rules. Manager on site borderline made up an excuse and misinterpreted the Rule. GM Mr. Hybarger later admitted that and promised to comply with compensation on January 3rd, 2024. Three weeks later, I dont hear from him. The Hotel ignores the rules, do not recognize status guests and have poor service practices, avoid.

The experience was blissful. First, Micah from the front desk knows how to treat Bonvoy Elite members! Everything was perfect. The suite was amazing. The water pressure was super strong in the shower. Comfy bed and the Apothecary bath amenities was a nice touch. Luxury at its best! The club lounge for Elite Members was really nice. Food was excellent in the Lounge. If you are here on business, this is the hotel to stay at after a long hard day at work. Micah - thanks for everything you do!

Never been to a hotel without a sundry shop. Even motels will have at least a vending machine. They'll point you outside and say there is a 7‐11 around the corner like they don't know that they are a hotel. Sir it is 1130, 2 degrees out, and i'm wearing shorts.

A little disappointing for a JW Marriott

The hotel is a nice facility but there were a few service issues that you don't expect from a JW Marriott. First of all we booked a rollaway bed but when we called to request it to be delivered, they said they couldn't put a rollaway bed in our room due to fire hazard code. We were counting on the bed for our three children so this was disappointing to not be told ahead of time that the bed wouldn't be allowed after we reserved it as we would have chosen a different hotel. On top of that, they CHARGED us $56 for the rollaway bed (which they refused to give us). We're still waiting for the refund of the bed that we wanted but they wouldn't give us!! Also when we got there, we had two rooms reserved and one was ready at check in time but the other was not ready until after the 4 pm check in time, and they never called us to tell us it was ready, i had to keep calling the front desk to inquire on status. Oh, and the phone system is messed up - if you press "guest services" on the phone in your room, sometimes you get guest services/front desk but most of the time you are connected to the valet, who can't help, and tell you to hang up and press zero instead (which just gets you an operator). I felt really bad for the valet guys answering the phone. The Executive lounge breakfast/snacks were just ok, a bit underwhelming compared with other JW or even regular Marriott hotels.

Nice but Below Expectations

Overall, the hotel is not quite what you’d expect from a JW Marriott. The lobby is sprawling with a lobby bar in the back center which gives it a convention hotel vibe - nothing luxury or cool about it. The hotel is located in the Chicago Loop downtown neighborhood making convenient to many office locations and tourist sites. It is just a couple blocks from the Willis Tower. The neighborhood feels safe by downtown urban standards. The room was nice and very well-sized, but consistent with the overall experience, lacked any luxury touches. The fitness center is on the lower level. It is well appointed with a variety of equipment albeit randomly distributed through the floor. The hotel has an in-house restaurant, The Florentine, where I had both lunch and dinner. It seemed to be a very popular spot based on the crowd and it was convenient located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Overall, a fine stay but a bit below the expectation of a JW Marriott and likely not the value you’d expect here.
